February 11, 2010

We are sitting here in Isla Verde and right now it couldn't rain any harder than it is! It is actually great because the boat really needed a good wash off. However, we're a little tired of the weather here...not like home, but most days (since Jeff and Sarah left) have been pretty overcast. That doesn't make for good snorkeling.

We had a great superbowl party and met a lot of different cruisers. However, the three nights we spent in Nargana, the island where the party was being held, we were eaten alive by no-see-ums! They just LOVE me and Greg is reasonably tasty as well! Ralph was not as appealing to them. We were glad to be out of there!

We are anchored beside Icarian (another Bluewater boat) and behind is us Slip Away, a sistership of Fortuitous. Slip Away has been completely redone in Cartagena (for $9000) and looks like new. We may do some of the same work with Fortuitous when we arrive...still in the planning stages right now. Homers' Odyssey is in another island close by, and we'll see them by Monday. We are looking forward to meeting up with them as they too are good friends...as well, they have coffee for us (the stuff we bought in Panama is terrible) and $$ too. We didn't bring enough with us and they are kindly making us a loan. We'll use some of that money to take a jeep trip back into Panama City and hit a cash machine. We'll also bring back some hard to get provisions like cheeses and meats, other than chicken.

Greg speared his first catch in Green Island. Unfortunately, the fish he was aiming for moved and his tiny brother was behind him...snagged!! We forgot to take a photo...too bad, that would have made for a good laugh here when I get the photos posted. Unfortunately, our underwater camera has packed it in and this is just the spot where you want it...beautiful fishes and corals. Very few shots to post here as the camera died right after our arrival.

More later...must post this while the engine is running and we're making water...we're having trouble keeping up with our power usage as there's been little sun and not enough wind.
