Enroute to Panama, Saturday, Jan.10

We haven't been having a lot of fun. The in board autohelm is still not working. Yesterday, we had some decent sailing and, then the wind changed direction entirely, to "noserlies", which means we can't sail in the direction we want as the wind is on our nose. We had a pretty hairy time trying to deal with the sails when the over tired captain got himself all turned around. We managed to sort it all out and get the sails in. Then the wind died completely, and we had to hand steer. This morning,
the wind and seas returned with a vengence...a very crappy day. At least the monitor wind vane can steer the boat under these conditions, whether sailing or not. It has calmed down a little now, so we might get some sleep tonight. There is a 2 knot current against us, as well as "noserly" winds, so we are motoring only at 2 to 2.5 kts.

Just type in VE7CGJ in the 'enter callsign' box at the bottom of the map.
